In 2022, Connor was invited to give a TEDx talk. This talk describes how taking the time to notice the amazing wildlife all around us can be good for our wellbeing. It explains, with appropriate humour, the importance of insects for our very existence, and why our fear of bugs is outdated and needs to change.
Connor has delivered in-person lectures and online webinars for a wide range of clients.

Talk Themes

Queering Nature: Rethinking What is “Natural“
This talk mixes science, nature, and inclusion to challenge the ideas we often take for granted about what is “natural.” By exploring examples from the natural world, it shows how many of our beliefs about nature and ourselves are shaped by bias. This session invites you to look at plants, animals, and people in a new way, and to see how embracing diversity in nature can help us build a fairer, more open-minded society.
Connecting Young People with Nature
This talk shares hands-on ideas and lessons learned from over ten years of teaching children in outdoor spaces around the world. It looks at simple, practical ways to help young people feel at home in nature, build confidence, and spark curiosity. Whether you work in schools, community projects, or family settings, you’ll find useful tips for inspiring the next generation to care about the natural world.

Small Wonders: How Insects Heal Us and the Planet
This talk looks at why insects are so important, both for keeping our planet healthy and for supporting our own wellbeing. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, many of us learned to slow down and notice the small details in nature. By taking time to watch insects, we can feel more connected, calm, and curious. This talk shares simple ways to appreciate these tiny creatures and why we should care about them in the first place.
Testimonials
“Connor led an engaging, thought-provoking discussion with passion, patience, and humor. His approach to teaching us about the world around us created a compelling and unique opportunity to be self-reflective. Our organization had the benefit of engaging with Connor both in-person in London, as well as virtually, where colleagues joined from many different countries, and across different roles within the organization. From people managers, to individual contributors and executives across the organization, this shared experience was thoughtful, informative, relevant, and engaging. Thank you, Connor!” – Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion, World Resources Institute, 2025
“Connor delivered a brilliant talk on queerness in nature at our organisation during our LGBTQIA+ staff network’s Pride celebrations in June 2025. During the talk, he explained how queer ecology challenges rigid binaries to reveal the fluid, diverse realities of the natural world – giving examples of plants, animals and insects. Connor’s talk was informative and accessible, ensuring that all colleagues could learn something and participate. The content was tailored to tie in with the rest of our Pride celebrations throughout the week, and our work with children and young people. Connor’s presentation was interactive and engaging, with moments of humour, as well as moments of pause that gave space to reflect on the current climate and persecution of the LGBTQIA+ community. We received a huge amount of positive feedback from colleagues across the organisation, with many saying that it was their favourite LGBTQIA+ network talk that they have ever attended. We would very much recommend Connor to any individual or organisation looking to deliver a talk that expands peoples’ knowledge of queerness in nature.” – Anna Freud, 2025
