Ecological Surveys

Connor is an ecologist with 10 years of experience. He is currently leading a year-long Biodiversity Audit at Chelsea Physic Garden, London’s oldest botanic garden. This project aims to record all invertebrates, fungi, bryophytes, mammals, amphibians, and birds in the Garden. It also aims to engage visitors and volunteers, training them to collect data and connect with the garden’s wildlife. A key part of the audit is engaging visitors and volunteers, providing training to help them collect data and deepen their connection to the garden’s wildlife.

Connor’s main area of expertise is entomology, with a focus on surveying and identifying deadwood and dung invertebrates. He completed a year-long dung beetle survey at Bushy Park for The Royal Parks, where he trained 96 citizen science volunteers to set dung-baited pitfall traps and survey dung for beetles. The project recorded 26 species of dung beetle.

He has also worked in Singapore conducting Environmental Impact Assessments and faunal surveys for several government infrastructure projects in secondary rainforest. Through this work, he has experience with a range of survey techniques such as pitfall traps, camera traps, and bioacoustic recorders.
